Pocket Money was developed by RBS as a positive way to make learning about budgeting, saving and managing money a fun, shared experience.

As most parents have learned, children are great at spending money! So if parents can communicate with their children about financial responsibility from an early age, this may help encourage children to save and manage their money better as adults.

The kids’ zone of the Pocket Money site is full of games, news stories, and fun ideas for saving money. There are also printable activity sheets containing money-related puzzles and games.

A teacher’s area of the website houses the Pocket Money primary school programme. This is made up of a set of comprehensive curriculum-linked resources, including downloadable worksheets and interactive games. Created by RBS together with teachers and other education experts, the resources aim to help teachers deliver financial education in the classroom.

The Pocket Money primary school programme was developed in response to the fact that 90% of adults in the UK never received lessons at school on managing money, with 66% feeling that having lessons would have better equipped them to deal with the financial challenges of day-to-day living.*

Completing the Pocket Money primary school programme provides pupils with the perfect grounding for the RBS secondary school programme MoneySense.
